Spring is here! What
a beautiful few weeks we've had and now some
rain to wash away the dust and give our fields
a drink. So much happens this time of
year for farmers. Ordering seeds,
preparing fields and landscaping is just the
beginning. Please browse our site and
visit Facebook to see pictures of current
ventures. The barn is finished and is
BEAUTIFUL! The farmhouse is also
complete, so keep it in mind for a cozy
getaway or a recommendation to friends and
family. Weddings, receptions, summer
tours and events...we are so grateful!
Of course, we are gearing up for fall too and
have special things in store for ALL
ages. Please email or call us if you
have any questions about farm happenings, opportunities
or just plain curious inquiries.

We are so grateful
for all of the folks who shared 2012 with
us. We made many new friends and
wonderful memories - we hope you did
too! For all of you wondering if we go
on hiatus for the winter, the answer is
NO. The soybeans are coming in and going
out, the farmhouse is being renovated for
overnight stays and the White Barn is getting
upgrades to better serve weddings and private
events. Catering menus are being
developed and we are being forced to sample
hors d'oeuvres and pastries....ohh what we go
through for our customers! :) Seeds will
be ordered soon and gardens plotted. All of
this and new surprises for the fall season
too! It is a lot of work, but it is
truly a labor of love that we enjoy sharing
with you. Keep checking in for the
latest activities and friend us on Facebook
for ongoing pics and developments.

It's the most
wonderful time of the year!! The
sun is shining and has been most kind to
us as we prepare to OPEN THIS FRIDAY! We
look forward to seeing all of our guests
that visit us traditionally during
Thanksgiving weekend to pick out their
family tree. Speaking of trees,
they are beautiful and have grown so
much this past year. We have all
sizes and are not "short" on
8-10 footers if you want to go BIG this
year. More room underneath for
gifts from Santa...

It's
November?? How did that
happen? We are thankful in so many
ways, but sad the harvest season ended
early on a soggy note. But the fun
times are not over at the farm! We
scurry around and clean up pumpkins,
only to replace them with holiday
charm. Jerry and the crew are
trimming Christmas trees to perfection
and the kitchen is stirring up
goodies. A lot of work to be done
so we will be ready for your visit to
the farm after Thanksgiving. Don't
miss the holiday experience... it is
magical! Cozy-up in the White
Barn, browse the trees on the plantation
and find a gift in the Country
Store. Also, taking reservations
NOW for Cookies with Santa..2 limited
seatings only - Dec. 9th or
16th! Remember us for Christmas!

We have officially
surrendered to the weather. The
farm is CLOSED today, Sunday, Oct. 28th
for "playtime". The cold and rain have made
any outdoor activities impossible
and unsafe. HOWEVER, we are
OPEN from 11-3 today for pumpkin
sales. Please stay
tuned for tomorrow....

Important news...
WE ARE NOT DOING A HAUNT THIS
YEAR!! The Erie Times LifeStyle
magazine published that we are repeating
Cornophobia this year and that is NOT
TRUE!! We tried it last year and
decided it was not for us. Only
family friendly daytime events are
happening this year here at Port
Farms. NO HAUNT!!!

Forecast: Mostly
FUN with a mix of smiles and
giggles! Every day is a great day
to visit the farm, but if you are
looking for special events this Saturday
is a perfect choice. Many local mascots,
like BubbaLuv, Sea Wolf, Quigley and
Chick-fil-a Cow, will be here to pass
out handshakes and hugs. Santa and
Mrs. Claus will be checking on the kids
to make sure they are being nice.
Also, a 10 year tradition here on the
farm is old fashioned games. Seed
spittin', sack races and pumpkin relays
with prizes all around! Not just
for the kids...we want to see what the
adults can do. Jump in!!

is on - 19 days until we open the gates!
We hope you are as excited as we are to
celebrate 10 years of family fun.
We have a lot of contests, games and
giveaways for opening day, so if you
usually come later in the season,
well...plan on visiting us twice this
year so you don't miss out! The
pumpkins, squash and gourds have grown
well and Farmer Jerry informed me this
morning that the fields are full.
We planted MANY varieties for your

fresh bark is in the air. The crew

gorgeous country setting. The children's
garden (ahhh...dreamy) is coming along
nicely. Please

Just
when we thought we couldn't get more
excited about the farm...we created
Summer Farm Camp! Our most
cherished part of the fall is hosting
children on the farm and watching them
learn and play. We always wished
we had more personalized, focused time
with them and now we have set aside that
time. It is truly a "down to
earth" program that will teach
appreciation for nature, the value of
hard work and its many rewards.
KIDS WILL DIG IT! Call us with any
questions and reserve your spot
(very limited space)! |
